This is a full-time non-exempt position under the supervision of the director or deputy director. Work closely with Community Service Coordinator and part-time monitors that includes detailed record keeping and scheduling of work projects for individuals placed on probation and ordered community service hours by the courts and supervised by the Adult Probation Department. Work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm with two late Mondays per month till 6:30pm for orientation classes.
Oversee the registration and work assignments of adults on probation in the performance of community service projects. Keep an accurate accounting of court ordered community service hours completed by each probationer. This will include but not limited to; typing and use of computer software to input and keep records of appropriate data and prepare statistical reports as required. Receptionist duties, answering of phone and communicating with governmental departments and court approved non-profit organizations to facilitate and monitor work assignments and to maintain professional relations associated with community service projects. Ensure the safety and orientation of community service projects and maintain cooperative agreements with outside community service agencies. Keep track of and properly inventory all community service equipment and coordinate any needed repairs or purchases to ensure supplies and materials for projects are available as needed. Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the director or deputy director.
Interested candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as a valid Texas driver’s license and automobile liability insurance. Applicants should be proficient in the use of basic computer technology including data processing, specifically Microsoft Office products, and other office machines such as copy machines, fax machines, and 10 key. Strong oral and written communication skills required and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced and stressful environment. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
The position is regularly required to sit, bend, stoop, lift, reach, push and pull. Extensive computer use which involves keyboarding, near visual acuity and fine manipulation. Must deal with difficult and sometimes volatile customers.
$24,708 - $27,812 per year (DOE), plus a comprehensive benefits package
