What is GIS?
A geographic information system (GIS) is a system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present spatial or geographic data.
The GIS Department develops and modifies the geographic database, performs spatial analysis, produces maps and assigns emergency 9-1-1 street addresses for Johnson County.
These maps and databases can be used for anything from viewing information regarding a particular address such as the 9-1-1 address and what Precinct or Voting Precinct it is located in to mapping out a disaster area to aid first responders and other crucial entities to aid the public.
Johnson County Open Data
Johnson County offers an Open Data website to view and access non-sensitive data for public use.
Address points and road centerlines will be updated the first Friday of every month.
