What is a Citizens Police Academy?
The Johnson County Sheriffs Office conducts the Citizens Police Academy to provide an inside look at local law enforcement. Those who complete the program will leave with a better understanding of how Sheriff’s Deputies perform their duties and how the Sheriff’s Office serves the County. The academy is free and is Offered twice a year. It consists of 14 classes held on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 930 p.m. In addition, there are two Saturday classes held from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. Most Classes will be held at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, located at 1102 E. Kilpatrick in Cleburne TX. While at the Sheriff’s Office classes will be held in a lecture-style setting. Participants will receive hands-on instruction from veteran officers on communications, patrol procedures, tactical operations, and criminal investigations. Participants also will learn about firearms training and how to operate a Taser.
Applicants must be 21 or older, and live or work in Johnson County.
A criminal background check will be conducted.
