The Johnson County Purchasing Department exists to provide the best service possible to all Johnson County Departments and to protect the interests of the Johnson County Taxpayers in all expenditures. Included in this responsibility is assuring fair and equitable treatment of all vendors doing business with Johnson County without regard to political pressure or discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, handicap or sex. The office is overseen by Purchasing Agent Lance Anderson, who has been appointed by the Johnson County Purchasing Board. This board is comprised of Johnson County's three District Judges, the County Judge and one County Commissioner.

 

In an effort to provide the best possible procurement services for the citizens of Johnson County, Texas, an exchange of ideas and techniques related to best practices is essential. Therefore, Johnson County Purchasing holds membership with the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), the Texas Public Purchasing Association, (TxPPA) and the Public Purchasing Association of North Texas (PPANCT).

 

The Purchasing Agent of Johnson County is charged with the responsibility of purchasing all supplies, materials, and equipment required or used, and contracts for all repairs to property used by the County and supervises all purchases made on competitive bid.

 

The Purchasing Agent maintains surplus inventory and disposes of all excess, obsolete or unserviceable equipment through bid sales or auctions as provided by law.
