Real Property Records are recorded at our Cleburne Office located in the Historic Courthouse, and include, but is not limited to,  the recording of: Official Public Records, (For the purposes of this page, Official Public Records include Affidavits, Assignments, Deeds, Liens, Releases, etc.), Abstract or Release of Judgement Liens, State Tax Liens, Federal Tax Liens, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC1 & UCC3), Notice of Trustee Sales, Bond Approvals and Plats. Real Property Records may be recorded either in person, by mail, or filed electronically for persons authorized to do so.

 

DOCUMENTS MUST HAVE ORIGINAL SIGNATURES AND NOTARY SEALS OR BE A CERTIFIED COPY

 

Electronic Recording

Pursuant to Local Government Code Sec. 195.003, the following persons may file electronic documents or other documents electronically for recording:

  • an attorney licensed in this state;
  •  a bank, savings and loan association, savings bank, or credit union doing business under laws of the United States or this state;
  • a federally chartered lending institution, a federal government-sponsored entity, an instrumentality of the federal government, or a person approved as a mortgagee by the United States to make federally insured loans;
  • a person licensed to make regulated loans in this state;
  • a title insurance company or title insurance agent licensed to do business in this state;
  • an agency of this state; or
  • a municipal clerk.

PLEASE BE ADVISED:

Documents submitted for electronic recording by unauthorized persons will be rejected at the time of filing or an automatic rejection will be placed on the submitter by our e-recording vendors once our office has identified the submitter as an unauthorized person.

Fee Schedules - Effective January 1, 2024

ALL fees are due and payable at the time of filing. Personal checks are not accepted. Attorney's business checks are accepted. Visa and Master Cards accepted. Fees may be charged to a credit card via telephone or mail by supplying the account number, expiration date, and card holder's zip code.

 

Record Searches and Copy Requests/Purchases

Online Searches and Copy Purchases

The County Clerk's Real Property Records can be searched at: https://johnson.tx.publicsearch.us/.

If you need assistance, the County Clerk's Staff can assist phone customers with questions regarding online searching but we CANNOT perform the online search for you over the phone. In addition, the Staff CANNOT conduct title searches, property restriction research or lien research for property scheduled to be sold at Foreclosure.

In-Office Searches and Copy Purchases

Public Access Terminals are available in our Office to conduct searches and purchase copies of Johnson County Public Records.

Copy Request by Mail

If requesting copies by mail, address your request to one of the Mailing Addresses listed above and enclose either a cashier's check, money order or a business check for the total cost of the copies and any wanted certifications. 

Please include the following information if you are requesting copies of Deed Records: 

  • Type of document
  • Full name of Grantor
  • Full name of Grantee
  • Approximate recording date
  • Legal description of property
  • Volume and page or Instrument Number

Faxed copies include an additional fee and there is a 50 page limit.
