Department Organization
The Purchasing Agent reports to a Johnson County Board comprised of Johnson County’s three District Judges, the County Judge and one County Commissioner. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for assuring fair and equitable treatment to all vendors without regard to political pressure. The person in this position is tasked with ensuring that all purchases are made in the best interest of Johnson County and its tax payers.
The Purchasing Agent of Johnson County is charged with the responsibility of purchasing all supplies, materials, services and equipment. The Purchasing Agent also contracts for all repairs to property used by the County and supervises all purchases made on competitive bid.
The Purchasing Agent is also responsible for the management of surplus inventory including disposal of all excess, obsolete or unserviceable equipment through bid sales on auctions as provided by law.
To assist the Johnson County Purchasing Agent, a staff of five is authorized consisting of one Assistant Purchasing Agent and four Buyers.
