Emergency Management
Welcome to Emergency Management |
Our goal at Johnson County's Office of Emergency management is to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from the effects of disasters- including natural disasters, such as tornadoes or floods, and man made problems such as chemical spills. The County Judge is charged by stature with responsibility for emergency management planning and operations. Most departments within Johnson County have emergency functions in addition to their normal duties and play key roles in our emergency operations strategy. All departments work together to coordinate a service and prepare for an emergency or disaster. The County is also privileged to have a Local Emergency Planning Committee (L.E.P.C.). This is a voluntary organization dedicated to improving responses to emergencies in Johnson County. The membership is made of leaders from public safety agencies, business, and industry. Zac Johnson is acting President. Emergency Management also manages the Cities Readiness program for Johnson County which is a program of the Dept. of State Health Services. This is a program that will provide medicine to the citizens of Johnson County if and when a pandemic event breaks out or a terrorism biological attack hits our country. This program is managed by Corrie Stiles and volunteers. If you would like to volunteer please send an email to gro.xtytnuocnosnhoj@ME.
